Nah. Midna's mask being broken is only a practicality: how could she've seen anything if the mask would've been whole? There were no eyeholes. The design must've been so cool for the designers that they wanted to have it whole on the game logo. So Midna might've found the mask somewhere and (due to unknown circumstances) broken some of it so she could function effectively while wearing it.
furthermore, how do we know that Midna's mask is the only example of the design,...... ...If there's a set of them masks, then they must be the symbol of some order or clergy, possibly connected to Twilight. What if Twilight ain't a corruption of Hyrule per se, but a completely independent world that mingles with the World of Hyrule. So if it's so, then that world has to have some form of society... AAARGHH I'm too tred for this sorta brainstorm!
